O strong arm and faithful rock of Israel!
How sure are your precepts,
and how great is your teaching!
By the strength of your arm
you came to lead your people through the wilderness.
They passed through the sea,
and as in the beginning, you formed order from chaos,
forging your people into a nation.
For the protection of your chosen ones,
for the guidance of your nation,
you handed down the law through Moses.
The light of your law shines in the darkness
like the glory of the bush—blazing, but not burning.
By the strength of your arm,
come once more to bring us through the wilderness.
All around us, dangers stir
and strange gods demand our devotion.
Deliver us with your word
protect us with your law
enrich us with your wisdom.
Guide our steps into the way of peace!
Once you stretched your hand over your people
to lead them safely home;
Receive us now with your open arms
and shelter us in the order of your kingdom.
All heaven and earth waits for you:
Come, my Lord and my God!
“O Come, O Come Emmanuel” vs 3
O come, O come, O Lord of might,
as to your tribes on Sinai's height
in ancient times you gave the law
in cloud, and majesty, and awe
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
shall come to you, O Israel.
