The Agnus Dei Health Ministry team is coordinated by Faith Community Nurses and is a part of the Agnus Dei Community Service Team. Our goal is to assist you and your family to promote better health and personal wellness, with an emphasis on spiritual care. The ministry is rooted in the belief that God loves and cares for us and provides healing through the Christian community. Our goal is to encourage everyone’s awareness of better health and to encourage your journey toward a wholeness of body, mind and spirit which will in turn further glorify our Lord.
Faith Community Nurses
The Agnus Dei faith community nurses are registered nurses who function as health educators, personal health counselors, referral agents and health volunteer trainers. Faith community nurses are an important link in the integration of faith and health and all Agnus Dei members are part of this valuable team.
What do we do?
Blood Pressure Program: The faith community nurses provide regular blood pressure screening and education to assist in lowering your blood pressure.
Health Education: Wellness and health information is published monthly in the church newsletter. The newsletter articles will reflect current health-related issues. Feel free to help yourself to the many printed resources on varied health related topics posted on the Health Ministry bulletin board in the hall of the education wing and in the Health Ministry Office.
Volunteer Drivers: The Health Ministry team can often provide assistance if you are ill. There is a list of volunteer drivers available to furnish transportation to doctor’s appointments as well as for other medical needs.
Advance Directives: The Health Ministry team can assist you with understanding and completing advanced directives for health care and other important care documents.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
The prayer shawl ministry, a subgroup of the Health Ministry Team, gathers weekly to knit and crochet prayer shawls and afghans to be given to those in need of comfort and solace. Each meeting begins with a prayer for the recipients. Shawls may be given to those undergoing medical procedures or illness; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; or in celebration of an event such as high school graduation. This group gathers on Wednesdays at 1:30, all are welcome!
