The Human Concerns
Committee leads
the congregation to foster awareness of individual and
community needs, both locally and globally. Current
activities include coordinating the serving or Peace
Lutheran Dinners, contributions to the FISH food bank,
supporting the ELCA Hunger Appeal, Lutheran World
Relief, preparation of seasonal food baskets, and
publicizing opportunities to take part in Associated
Ministries Events-- Pierce County Hunger Walk and Paint
Tacoma/Pierce County Beautiful.
The Human Concerns
Committee meets once monthly in the evening at church.
We help encourage all members to remember weekly
donations to FISH, our local food bank. We work to help
meet other needs of those in our community and beyond
including: special meal gifts during the holiday season
with matching funds from Thrivent, gift wrap for the
Women’s Correction Center in Purdy, children’s Christmas
gifts in shoe boxes; making fair traded products and
Heifer Project catalogs available to the congregation;
soup labels for the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission;
and disaster response both in our own country and around
the world.
All new faces are
welcome at any meeting, please see calendar each month
for exact date. We embrace new ideas and the enthusiasm
you can bring into this ministry. Please see anyone
currently working on this committee with any questions
or for more information: Ronnie Kulman, Rose
VanderKlomp, Selma Sloth, Janet Forest, Debbie Snowden,
