The Faith Community Nurse program (formerly known as the Parish Nurse Program) was designed to promote whole person health and disease prevention services with an emphasis on spiritual care. The main activities of the Faith Community Nurses integrate faith and health within the Christian Community. The nurses function as health educators, personal health counselors, referral agents and trainers of volunteers. They oversee the activities of the Health Ministry Team a group of volunteers who provide educational programs throughout the year and monthly blood pressure screenings on Sundays after worship.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The prayer shawl ministry, a subgroup of the Health Ministry Team, gathers weekly to knit and crochet prayer shawls and afghans to be given to those in need of comfort and solace. Each meeting begins with a prayer for the recipients. Shawls may be given to those undergoing medical procedures or illness; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; or in celebration of an event such as high school graduation. This group gathers on Wednesdays at 1:30, all are welcome!
